Barcelona have been quietly strengthening their squad ahead of next season as the Catalan outfit are planning for the future. The club had earlier in the season confirmed the transfer of Ajax ace Frenkie De Jong in a deal worth €65million.

Barcelona are determined to complete the swoop of the talented youngsters at Ajax with their latest pursuit of Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt. The defender is regarded as one of the brightest young defenders in Europe with many top clubs interested in the defender.

UNITED REPORTEDLY EYEING FORMER PLAYER

Manchester United are reportedly looking to set-up a new role at the club with a director of football position. According to reports, the club wants to follow other teams like Manchester City and Barcelona who use this system effectively.

Ed Woodward Manchester United Chairman Ed Woodward currently shuffles this role alongside his role as the CEO of the club. However, the problems experienced in the summer when the club was unable to secure key signings has forced a rethink by the club.
