AJAX ACCEPT BLAME IN NOURI’S BRAIN COLLAPSE

Dutch football giant Ajax has admitted to failure to treat Moroccan footballer Abdelhak Nouri adequately after the player collapsed on the field during a game in 2017. The general manager of the club Edwin van der Sar made the confession.

Van der Sar said the club regretted the incidence as they didn’t provide sufficient medical treatment for the player after the friendly game against Werder Bremen. The 21-year old footballer is left with a permanent brain injury.

The 2016/17 Netherlands Eredivisie First Runners-up, Ajax Football club have let go of their 2016/17 player of the year, the defender Davinson Sanchez to the current English Premier League Runners-up, Tottenham Hotspur.

The Colombia international reportedly arrived at the North London club, Tottenham for a fee that could be worth up to £40m which is the club’s record signing. Sanchez joined Spurs who were recently beaten by the EPL current champions, Chelsea in a 2-1 defeat, on a six-year contractt, meanwhile the move remains subject to passing his medicals and a permission to work. VAN DER SAR ALMOST AGREED TO LIVERPOOL MOVE

Manchester United goalkeeping legend Edwin van der Sar has revealed that he almost signed for Liverpool under Gerard Houlier. The Dutchman said he almost moved to Anfield back in 1999. He was on the radar of most top sides following his success at Ajax. He spent nine successful years at the Netherlands top club, winning the UEFA Cup and the Champions League title in 1991 and 1995.

Houlier really wanted Van der Sar at the Merseyside that summer of 1999. The tall and lanky shot stopper was even shown around the club ahead of a likely transfer from the Eredivisie to the Premier League. While there were rumours that the deal was one waiting to happen, the keeper changed his mind as he agreed to a move to Juventus.

VAN DER SAR: EUROPA LEAGUE EXIT IS DIFFICULT

The Chief Executive Officer of Dutch soccer side Ajax, Edwin van der Sar, has opened up on the painful loss from the Europa League this season.


The team was rebuilding itself into a European heavyweight again but there have been many setbacks.

A young side led by a dynamic manager Peter Bosz helped the team go far in the Dutch Eredivisie but they narrowly lost it. The talented manager exited the side to replace Thomas Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund so Ajax had to turn to Marcel Keizer for the new season.

Some players that formed the core of last season’s team have moved to other sides, like Davy Klaassen who joined Premier League side Everton FC. Klaassen skippered the young Dutch side to Ajax’s first European final in 21 years.
