FORSTER BACKED

The former Manchester United player Edwin van der Sar who played for over 5 years with the team that was under the tutelage of Sir. Alex Ferguson and now is the marketing director of Ajax has recently spoken to the press about Celtic’s goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

Van der Sar said: “I’m really impressed with Forster. I was down at pitch-side when he came out for his warm-up in Glasgow before the Ajax game and I was really struck by his size.

“People look up to me; they always say I’m a big guy. But he is something else with his enormous frame. I found myself looking up to him. Of course there is more to him than that. He’s playing really well at the moment, especially in the big European games which means he’s getting quite a reputation’’.

“But he’s earned that with his all-round game. I’ve played in Italy and England and Forster could definitely do well in either of those leagues, no problem. He could play in the very best leagues in Europe without any struggle’’.

“And if he goes on like this he must have a chance to play for England in the friendlies coming up, with everything that’s going on with Joe Hart. I think everyone at Celtic knows he’s ready for international football because the Champions League is such a high level.”

In Forster’s debut season with the Scottish club Celtic, he managed to keep 24 clean sheets out of the total 44 matches played for the team as he helped break the previous record that Celtic had of 21 clean sheets in the same season. One of the latest william hill offers is on whether he will beat that this season.

Following his successful debut season with Celtic, Forster signed a permanent deal with a transfer fee believed to be around the region of £2 million and now top European clubs such as Barcelona and Manchester City are interested in signing him. This shows the talent that he has been displaying even though he is only 25 years old.
