Edwin Van Der Sar Comments Unveil Erik Ten Hag’s Role in Alfred Schreuder’s Dismissal

Edwin Van Der Sar, the former Manchester United goalkeeper has blamed the loss of important players in the summer for the dismissal of Alfred Schreuder by Ajax. At the time of the summer transfer window, Erik ten Hag performed a raid on the former club and came out with Antony and Lisandro Martinez.

Initially, the Manchester United boss wanted Jurrien Timber before turning his attention to Martinez. Then Ten Hag swooped in for Antony late in the window and got his man when the winger went on strike for forcing through a move to Old Trafford.

At the time, Schreuder at the time replaced Ten Hag at Ajax and made public utterances repeatedly warning Manchester United to keep off Antony. He remarked several times that the Brazilian wasn’t going anywhere and the team promised him he is going to count on the services of the attacker for the current season.

As per the CEO of Ajax, Van Der Sar, the Dutch giants were helpless in their efforts to ward off Manchester United and keep their stars. The Manchester United legends said that when Ten Hag called Antony and Martinez, the two players found it impossible for turning him down. Van Der Sar said when your old manager asks you to come to Man United; it is very difficult to keep them.

As per him, losing the likes of Antony and Martinez made the job of Schreuder’s even harder. The ex-Manchester United goalkeeper confirmed that he had been involved in the deals for bringing Antony and Martinez to the Theatre of Dreams. It is a known fact that his engagement helped break the deadlock between Manchester United and Ajax at the time of negotiations between the two footballers.
