Brad Friedel has revealed that he was bizarrely fined for swapping too many shirts during his time at North London club Tottenham Hotspur. Friedel spoke to Ladbrokes about his time at Spurs as he also discussed Harry Kane and his quest to leave Spurs to win major trophies elsewhere.


American goalkeeper Brad Friedel disclosed how he was fined for £800 for swapping too many shirts.  According to him, the rule of being entitled to just eight to ten jerseys as a Tottenham Hotspur player was new to him when he moved to the club. LVG: AJAX CEO SENDS CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE

Ajax Amsterdam Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edwin Van Der Sar has sent a congratulatory message to former boss, Louis Van Gaal (LVG) following his appointment as the Dutch national team manager this week.

Van Gaal has come out of retirement to take the Netherlands job, replacing Frank De Boer who was axed after the disappointing last 16 exit to the Czech Republic at Euro 2020. Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt was sent off in the second half before Patrik Schick and Thomas Holes scored to send the Czechs to the quarterfinals via a 2-0 win over the Dutch team in the last 16 stage at Euro 2020.

VAN DER SAAR WOULD LOVE TO WORK AT UNITED IN FUTURE

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Saar has revealed that if an offer pops up later in the future that will grant him the opportunity to work at the club, he will most likely not turn down the chance to do so. Van der Saar is already a club legend and is not only loved but also adored by the Red Devils fans who have maintained a very friendly relationship with him over the years.

The former Netherlands international goalkeeper spent a lot of years at Old Trafford where he won a lot of titles under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and he has also put in a lot of strong and commanding performances between the sticks for the club before eventually retiring. He is currently working at one of the clubs he played for during his career, Ajax, as their director of football and has been earning himself some valuable experience in the process.

VAN DER SAR REVEALS UNITED CONTACT

Ajax Amsterdam executive Edwin Van Der Sar has revealed that he was contacted by former club Manchester United. Van Der Sar revealed this in a chat with ESPN’s Good Morning Eredivisie. He was asked about the rumours linking him with a return to Manchester United.

Edwin Van Der Sar is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Dutch Eredivisiegiants Ajax Amsterdam and he has been seriously linked with a similar role at Premier League club Manchester United in the place of the much maligned Ed Woodward who will resign from the post later this year.

VAN DER SAAR COULD RETURN TO UNITED

There have been some interesting developments that have happened in the football industry in the last couple of days, and as a fan of the sport, it would definitely not be weird to start wondering what next drama could be unfolding in the next day. One of the unexpected events that unfolded in the last few days is the fact that Manchester United director Edward Woodward announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the year, ending a relationship with the Red Devils that has been alive for over ten years. Woodward has been at the forefront of transfer deals happening at the Old Trafford outfit and has been responsible for signing off cheques for the signing of new players.

JOHNSTONE REVEALS AJAX BOSS’ KIND GESTURE

West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has narrated how Ajax chief executive, Edwin Van Der Sar paid a fine for him during his time at Manchester United. Edwin Van Der Sar was a former goalkeeper for Premier League teams Fulham and Manchester United. Edwin Van Der Sar also played for Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam and the Dutch national team. Edwin Van Der Sar went into football administration after he hung up his gloves and the Dutchman is the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) at Ajax Amsterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie. According to West Brom shot stopper Sam Johnstone, Edwin Van Der Sar showed his kind gesture by paying the fine on his behalf after he was punished for a swollen thumb. Sam Johnstone was at Manchester United back then and he was fined for his failure to wear thumb support. The goalkeepers were told to wear thumb support always to prevent injury but a young Sam Johnstone had forgotten his at home on the said day.

MAN UNITED LEGEND BACKS ONANA

Ajax Amsterdam CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Edwin Van Der Sar has leapt to the defence of Ajax shot stopper Andre Onana after the player was hit with a 12-month ban for taking performance-enhancing drugs. Edwin Van Der Sar defended Andre Onanathrough a statement released by Ajax Amsterdam shortly after the suspension was announced. Edwin Van Der Sar said the club had hoped that Cameroonian international Andre Onana would be given a suspended sentence or a sentence lesser than the 12-month suspension given to him and that it was not his intention to take performance-enhancing drugs.

Edwin Van Der Sar is a Manchester United legend and he has backed Andre Onana in the fight to have the sentence overturned or reduced. Edwin Van Der Sar described Andre Onana as a top goalkeeper, who has performed consistently at the highest level for the Dutch Eredivisie giants. EDWIN VAN DER SAR SETS HIGH STANDARDS FOR AJAX TO FOLLOW

 

Ajax General Manager Edwin Van Der Sar has called on Ajax to become more consistent and perform better both on and off the pitch from this season onwards. The Ajax team shocked the footballing world with their performances and exploits in the 2018/19 campaign when they impressed hugely in the UEFA Champions League.

In that campaign, they were a very brave side that had no single fear in them. As a result, they would go on to beat some of the competition’s favorites including Real Madrid and Juventus. The team comprised of the likes of de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, Donny Van de Beek, Dusan Tadic, and many more. However, most of these star names have left the club, and it has raised questions as to whether such success can ever be replicated again.

AJAX LOSE AGAIN TO LIVERPOOL

 

Dutch football giants Ajax Amsterdam were on the receiving end of another defeat when they met Premier League champions Liverpool for the second time in this season’s Champions League. Liverpool and Ajax Amsterdam met for their second and final meeting in Group D. The outcome was the same as what was obtainable in the first meeting at the Amsterdam Arena on matchday one.


Hosts Ajax lost 1-0 to Liverpool in the first meeting after Argentinian left-back Nicholas Tagliaficoscored an own goal. The Reds won their second meeting by the same 1-0 scoreline when they played hosts to Dutch football giants Ajax at Anfield in a matchday five clash played on Tuesday night. The only goal of the game came on 58 minutes after Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana misjudged a cross from young fullback Neco Williams and this paved the way for Curtis Jones to easily score the winning goal and earn his team the three points on offer in the Group D clash.

UNITED HANDED TRANSFER BOOST FOR TOP POSITION

 

Manchester United in recent years have come under scrutiny for failing to have recruited the services of a director of football. The club has failed to land the signature of a lot of top transfer targets over the past couple of years, particularly due to the absence of a football director that has footballing knowledge.


Recently, reports have emerged that the Red Devils are interested in finally recruiting a candidate to fill the position. In the absence of a natural football-oriented director, the club’s Executive Vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been the one handling transfer activities at the club, causing unrest amongst fans.
