VAN DER SAR: JUVENTUS CAREER PROBED

Dutchman Edwin Van Der Sar was one of the best goalkeepers in the world before he signed for Italian Serie A side Juventus in 1999. Premier League heavyweights Manchester United wanted to sign him before he left Ajax Amsterdam to sign for the Old Lady in a £5m deal. Edwin Van Der Sar made his Juventus debut in the 1-1 draw at home to Reggina thus becoming the first non-Italian in the Juventus goal.


Edwin Van Der Sar was the first-choice goalkeeper at Juventus in his first two seasons at the club as the Old Lady finished second in quick succession in the league. In total, the Dutch shot stopper made 66 appearances in the Italian top flight over the course of his first two seasons as a Juventus player. Carlo Ancelotti was the Juventus manager at the time and they had the best defensive record in the league in each of the first two seasons spent by Edwin Van Der Sar at the club. DUTCHMAN RECALLS HIS UNDERRATED FOOTBALL ATTRIBUTE

Ajax chief executive Edwin Van Der Sar went down memory lane as he recalled the underrated part of his game. Edwin Van Der Sar used his Twitter handle to point out the best part he enjoys apart from keeping clean sheets as a goalkeeper in a reply to the goal clip from his Manchester United days.

According to Edwin Van Der Sar, his ability to start fast attacks from the back to catch opponents off-guard was massively underrated. The Dutchman was an ultimate professional during his playing days and the fans of his various clubs are fond of him especially Manchester United. Apart from Manchester United, the retired Dutch national team star also featured for clubs such as London team Fulham and Ajax Amsterdam in his native Netherlands.

VAN DER SAR ON NEWCASTLE SHORTLIST

Ajax Amsterdam Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edwin Van Der Sar has reportedly been added to the shortlist of potential candidates for the Director of Football (DoF) job at Newcastle United.  This is according to the report from the stables of 90min which stated that the Edwin Van Der Sar is the new name on the list after the new Magpies owners were turned down by another Ajax Amsterdam director, Marc Overmars.

Manchester United legend Edwin Van Der Sar has done a good job as the Ajax CEO and has been linked with a move to the Premier League. The ex-Dutch international goalkeeper has previously been linked with the director’s job at former club Manchester United and a potential to Newcastle United is on the horizon following the takeover of the club by a Saudi-led consortium last month as engineered by Amanda Staveley.

‘ONANA IS A GREAT GOALKEEPER’

Ajax Amsterdam CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Edwin Van Der Sar has described Cameroon national team shot stopper Andre Onana as a great goalkeeper amidst the transfer links involving him and Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan. Edwin Van Der Sar talked about Onanaamidst the reported interest from Inter in a chat with Italian newspaper Tuttosport.


Dutchman Van Der Sar said it’s sad that Onana can’t play in a professional game until the start of next month as a result of the doping ban slammed on him. Ajax CEO Edwin Van Der Sar also had good things to say about Italian football as he paid glowing tribute to Atalanta manager GianPeroGasperini and the fantastic job that he has done at the club.

FRIEDEL FINED FOR BIZARRE REASON

Brad Friedel has revealed that he was bizarrely fined for swapping too many shirts during his time at North London club Tottenham Hotspur. Friedel spoke to Ladbrokes about his time at Spurs as he also discussed Harry Kane and his quest to leave Spurs to win major trophies elsewhere.


American goalkeeper Brad Friedel disclosed how he was fined for £800 for swapping too many shirts.  According to him, the rule of being entitled to just eight to ten jerseys as a Tottenham Hotspur player was new to him when he moved to the club. LVG: AJAX CEO SENDS CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE

Ajax Amsterdam Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Edwin Van Der Sar has sent a congratulatory message to former boss, Louis Van Gaal (LVG) following his appointment as the Dutch national team manager this week.

Van Gaal has come out of retirement to take the Netherlands job, replacing Frank De Boer who was axed after the disappointing last 16 exit to the Czech Republic at Euro 2020. Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt was sent off in the second half before Patrik Schick and Thomas Holes scored to send the Czechs to the quarterfinals via a 2-0 win over the Dutch team in the last 16 stage at Euro 2020.

VAN DER SAAR WOULD LOVE TO WORK AT UNITED IN FUTURE

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Saar has revealed that if an offer pops up later in the future that will grant him the opportunity to work at the club, he will most likely not turn down the chance to do so. Van der Saar is already a club legend and is not only loved but also adored by the Red Devils fans who have maintained a very friendly relationship with him over the years.

The former Netherlands international goalkeeper spent a lot of years at Old Trafford where he won a lot of titles under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson and he has also put in a lot of strong and commanding performances between the sticks for the club before eventually retiring. He is currently working at one of the clubs he played for during his career, Ajax, as their director of football and has been earning himself some valuable experience in the process.

Ajax Amsterdam executive Edwin Van Der Sar has revealed that he was contacted by former club Manchester United. Van Der Sar revealed this in a chat with ESPN’s Good Morning Eredivisie. He was asked about the rumours linking him with a return to Manchester United.

VAN DER SAAR COULD RETURN TO UNITED

One of the unexpected events that unfolded in the last few days is the fact that Manchester United director Edward Woodward announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the year, ending a relationship with the Red Devils that has been alive for over ten years. Woodward has been at the forefront of transfer deals happening at the Old Trafford outfit and has been responsible for signing off cheques for the signing of new players.
